152 YEARS TOGETHER

152 YEARS TOGETHER
🔹On September 22, 1873, hundreds of Odesa residents gathered at Soborna Square for the ceremonial opening of a fountain💦. At first glance, such a seemingly minor event marked the beginning of a new era in the city’s development. After all, water was supplied to the fountain from the Dniester River through a newly built water pipeline. On that day, centralized water supply🚰 began in Odesa. The project of Wilhelm Schwaben and John Moor was one of the most complex in Europe at the time, as Dniester water had to be delivered to the city from 40 kilometers away and lifted several dozen meters above sea level.
🔸Over more than a century and a half, the technical equipment of Odesa’s water supply system has advanced from horse power to the latest equipment with software from leading European manufacturers. The requirements for the quality of Odesa water💧 have evolved from “absence of seawater impurities” to comprehensive analyses covering 55 indicators. The only things that have remained unchanged since then are the fountain at Soborna Square and our commitment to providing Odesa residents with clean water.
