💧 Dear friends, we are very concerned about messages such as “the leak has been going on for several days,” “you are doing nothing,” or “the water has been turned off again — how much longer?”
We want to help you understand the situation and see that not everything is as bad as it may seem.

❓ What is happening with the networks?
During autumn and winter, we experience a seasonal increase in network breakdowns caused by sharp temperature fluctuations in the water and soil. This leads to more frequent ruptures of steel and cast-iron pipelines. But as they say, troubles never come alone. One of the biggest problems is our “unreliable neighbors.” Because of them, Ukrainian cities often suffer from emergency power outages — and our facilities, pumps, and networks suffer as well. Sudden voltage surges, unexpected power cuts and restarts take a heavy toll on sensitive high-voltage, high-power equipment. As a result, we face hydraulic shocks in the network and an even greater number of pipeline ruptures.

🛠 What are we doing?
First of all, we are not sitting idly by — we are working around the clock in an intensified mode. On average, our repair crews have to eliminate about 50 pipeline ruptures every day. We cannot always fix them instantly, but that doesn’t mean our teams are taking a break. If you see a water main leak and no “Infoksvodokanal” employees nearby, please know — they are repairing something in another area and are already preparing to head your way.

🔹 Secondly, we are constantly renewing our networks. Even during wartime, despite economic challenges and enormous consumer debts, and despite the lack of economically justified tariffs, we have laid more than 41,000 meters of new pipelines. This area of work remains one of our top priorities. Most of the networks were laid at a frantic pace in the 1970s–1980s, often in violation of standards and without proper quality control. These are the very networks that most frequently suffer from accidents (for example, Akademika Korolyova, Yevhena Chykalenka, and Liustdorf roads) and regularly cause inconvenience to consumers. That is why their replacement is our top priority.

🔸 Thirdly, the war. Yes, it has affected us too. Some of our colleagues are now on the front line defending Ukraine. We are working both for them and for ourselves. Today we are struggling with material and equipment prices that have nearly tripled. We have already forgotten what it means when the tariff even covers the cost of electricity. We are 2,400 residents of Odesa who are doing everything possible — and impossible — to keep the city supplied with water. We work for you 24/7 with faith in Ukraine and Victory! 💙💛
