Let's Use Water Responsibly!

Water is nature's most valuable resource, without which life on Earth would be impossible. Freshwater accounts for less than 3% of all water on Earth. It is also important to note that not all freshwater is available for use. More than 60% of the total freshwater supply is contained in glaciers, while about 30% is found in groundwater. Surface water and other freshwater sources account for only slightly more than 1%. Today, our society is facing an environmental crisis, with rivers and lakes drying up and, as a result, available water resources gradually decreasing. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, a critical hydrological situation has developed in the Dniester River basin. Prolonged dry weather and a lack of precipitation have led to declining water levels and, consequently, reduced river flow. In some areas, water levels have approached their lowest recorded values over many years. A further decline in water levels may complicate the operation of the water intake facilities of the “Infolksvodokanal” branch of “INFOX” LLC, reduce the reliability of centralized water supply to settlements, worsen the environmental condition of the Dniester River, and create risks of interruptions in the supply of drinking water to consumers. Therefore, conserving water for household use remains an important part of environmentally conscious behavior. Moderate water consumption remains important for many reasons:

• Conserving water resources is the most cost-effective and environmentally safe way to meet water needs.
• Although water is used to generate electricity, using less water each year actually contributes to energy savings.
• The less water we use, the lower the load on sewage and drainage systems and the lower the costs of maintaining them.
• Protecting and using water resources responsibly helps extend the lifespan of lakes and rivers, which is crucial for the health of ecosystems around the world.

Therefore, residents are encouraged to use drinking water responsibly and follow these simple recommendations:

• use drinking water economically;
• where possible, minimize its use for technical and household purposes;
• avoid unnecessary water consumption;
• promptly notify the persons responsible for the internal water supply networks about water leaks so that they can be repaired without delay;
• where possible, use alternative water sources for watering plants, washing areas, and other purposes that do not require drinking water.

In addition, responsible use of water resources will help reduce the load on the water supply system and preserve drinking water reserves for the most essential needs of the population.
