It seems the sewer collector on Balkivska Street has decided to put our team to the test. 😳

First, a mattress 🛏 was pulled out of it. Then — a garbage bin 🗑. In between, there were numerous wheels 🚗, rags, wooden boards and even a baby bathtub 🛁.

And this is no laughing matter 😡.

Bulky waste seriously disrupts the operation of the sewer system. It causes blockages, reduces the capacity of sewer collectors, and after heavy rainfall the number of clogs and drainage problems 🚽 only increases.

That is why we are forced to spend significant resources on cleaning our sewer collectors to ensure that household wastewater networks operate reliably. 💧

At the moment, our specialists are clearing the collectors on Prymorska and Balkivska streets meter by meter.

Each cleaning operation requires considerable effort, time and the use of specialized equipment. This also means significant costs. More than UAH 60 million will have to be spent on sections with a total length of 3,000 meters.

For us, this is a substantial amount, as in recent years we have been forced to operate under a loss-making tariff and economize wherever possible. Unfortunately, the new tariff covers only the most essential expenses, and large-scale preventive maintenance of sewer networks is not included. However, we understand how quickly the networks can fail without proper maintenance, which is why we continue cleaning the collectors.

This is demanding work. Heavy-duty trucks 🚛 remove tons of waste that someone decided to “dispose of” through the sewer system.

More than half of the work has already been completed, and we plan to finish it by the end of November 📅.

But there is one important condition — please do not turn the sewer system into a garbage dump. It is definitely not designed for that. 🙏
