INFOKSVODOKANAL TO RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS

Odesa has joined a UNICEF program aimed at ensuring the energy independence and resilience of Ukrainian water utilities under martial law and supporting critical infrastructure.

A delegation from the international humanitarian WASH Cluster (UNICEF) visited the facilities of the Infoksvodokanal branch. The parties discussed a project to reconstruct high-voltage equipment to ensure a stable power supply. This will help address the urgent need for autonomous power supply at the largest water supply facilities — a project that could not previously be implemented without international assistance.

UNICEF Technical and Coordination Expert Hussein Younes and WASH Cluster Subnational Coordinator Serhii Husak reviewed the water utility’s priority needs in detail and expressed their readiness to provide support in addressing them.

Currently, the company is under double pressure and, like most water utilities in Ukraine, needs assistance from international partners. The team has to respond to all the challenges of wartime: operating in conditions where facilities are directly targeted by enemy attacks and equipment fails due to unstable power supply. At the same time, economically unjustified tariffs prevent the company from independently providing itself with the most essential resources.

“Ensuring a stable water supply for Odesa residents remains the top priority for the Infoksvodokanal branch. Therefore, we are sincerely grateful to UNICEF for its comprehensive support during the most difficult period of our work,” said Maksym Zanfirov, Acting Director of the company.
