NEW WATER TARIFF
NEW WATER TARIFF: WHY WE CANNOT DELAY
The last time water tariffs for households were increased was in December 2021. Since then, the cost of electricity, fuel, and repair materials has increased 3–4 times. At the same time, water tariffs have remained unchanged, putting water utilities across the country in a difficult situation.
Since June 1, water utilities across Ukraine have begun introducing new economically justified tariffs. Currently, out of 22 regional capitals, 15 are already paying for water according to the new rates.
Tariffs had to be reviewed even by those water utilities that have received significant assistance from European partners over the past four years.
For example, in Uzhhorod, residents now pay UAH 91.24 per cubic meter, in Ternopil — UAH 87.34, and in Poltava — UAH 83.71.
Residents of Vinnytsia now pay twice as much for water, while Odesa is still determining what fair rates should be.
